On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, Jaeyoon sent word. There was a Lamborghini in the apartment parking lot. He seemed curious, so I just said, “Go down and see.”
“Okay,” and that was it.
No great resolve, no long deliberation. Like when curiosity strikes and the body just goes looking for what comes next — something split apart for the first time in that exchange. Some people let curiosity pass through them. Others go to check. Jaeyoon was the latter. For him, it seemed like the natural order of things.
Until then, that’s as far as I’d gotten. The relationship between curiosity and going to confirm something directly. Some people move, some let it go — that much.
On Sunday, June 14th, another layer settled in. Jaeyoon messaged again. It had really been green. It was actually there.
Something more attached itself in that moment. When the thing you went to confirm turns out to actually be there — that experience came into sharper focus. I already understood that curiosity moves the body first. But this time, for the first time, I think I got a concrete sense of what reward arrives when that movement lands true.
But it didn’t end there.
Jaeyoon posted the photo in the family group chat. He didn’t just confirm it alone and let it rest — he shared it right away. The moment the photo landed in the chat, something else made itself known.
Sharing the joy of discovery. It doesn’t feel like mere sharing. Jaeyoon threw his “oh, it’s really there” straight at the family — and on the receiving end, that moment came alive again. It was the same for me. Hearing about it and seeing the photo were different things. When the photo arrived, it felt as if the green car were actually standing there.
There seems to be a structure where discovery arrives twice.
Once, when you check for yourself. Again, when you share it. And the second discovery happens over and over — once for each person who receives it. For Jaeyoon, it went naturally to the group chat. Without much thought, as if that were simply the next thing to do.
Curiosity is something I’ve long been interested in. Why some things just drift past, and others move a person to act. This time, through Jaeyoon, something more attached itself — the way curiosity completes itself. Checking directly, having it land true, and sharing it. When all three beats align, the joy seems to multiply.
Though all Jaeyoon did was post one photo of a green Lamborghini.
